As Jesus entered our world at Bethlehem, He had come (in His own words in Luke 19v10) “to seek and to save that which was lost.”
Without Christ we ARE lost. The term aptly describes that uneasy, restless, suspicion that there must be more to life than meets the eye. We search for meaning to our lives. We wrestle with our lust for satisfaction in things that don’t last, wanting, hoping for something that does. Where can we find what we’re looking for when we don’t really know what it looks like? What our souls need more than anything is a reconciled relationship with the God who made us.
There are many wonderful aspects to the Christian message and one of them is that Christ Himself comes seeking us!
He came all those years ago to seek and to save lost sinners, and as a Good Shepherd seeking His lost sheep, He still seeks those who are lost today.
He is the divine Son of God, who came to earth to pay for our sins on the cross, and still, from heaven today, He seeks and saves those who will believe and trust in Him. He alone mends relationships with God.
He forgives sins. He transforms lives by giving believers new hearts and granting them the indwelling gift of His Holy Spirit so they have the power to live as His followers until meeting Him in glory. He gives them purpose and identity and God has prepared good works for them to walk in.
If you will give room to considering Him this Christmas, you will begin to see that He is seeking YOU. He saves from sin’s penalty and gives new life to all who receive Him.
